Late night Heathrow to London
We will be landing at Heathrow sometime around 11:00 pm. In the past, we've always taken the tube into the city but never at this late hour. What is the best way to get into London after midnight? Or, would you recommend staying at an airport hotel the first night and then going into the city the next day?
Also, any suggestions on a good, not super expensive hotel with easy (daytime) access to Heathrow for the return trip?
Thanks!

We always use www.justairports.com and have never had a problem. If you have the postal code of you hotel you can look up the cost on their website.

Still hoping for info on getting into the city from Heathrow, probably into the Kensington area, late at night. If all else fails and we have to take a taxi, how much should it cost? It looks like most of the alternate transportation shuts down right before midnight.

As jamilins suggests, a car service is your best option - the one she recommends is good and the price is reasonable. You don't want to have to take a taxi from the rank - that could potentially cost you upwards of 75 quid.

We have used and can recommend justairports as noted above. They were waiting for us on arrival, got us into London expeditiously, and cost half the figure quoted for a black cab.
If you decide you would prefer to stay at Heathrow, many posters here get excellent rates on Priceline. The problem with staying at Heathrow is that you then face going into London at rush hour next morning if you are going to have time to do much.
