late April or October?

I'm considering a visit to Ireland in either late April or October of this year. I've never been. A large consideration is the weather. Which month is better, as a general rule?

I've been twice in April and loved it.

Your Pros are as follows:

As long as you arrive after Easter (April 11th this year) most everything will be open and ready for tourists.

The flowers and trees are all blooming then and really beautiful.

Daylight savings time has kicked in so your days are longer and only get longer.

We've had little to no rain the last 2 Aprils that we've gone (though October is not that rainy either, I don't think.)

You are at the start of tourist season so those who serve are extremely happy to have you (vs the end of tourist season where some may be worn out!)

I can't really compare October since I've not ever gone then but these few things I've listed are definately worth considering when going in April.

Cheers,

Wendy

I think the weather is similar in April and October (never been in October). Although Wendy didn't get rained on, that is the exception not the rule. Bring stuff to stay dry.

I also have only gone in April. And here I thought they were happy to see me because it was herself!

We had little rain however the rain gear helped with some of those driving winds. Those coastal places sure can kick it up.

I went in mid-October and thought it was fine. It rained every day but it didnt last long and it was still fairly warm and sunny the rest of the time.

slightly demented said living here prefers October - I was wondering why? We are looking at a trip there and I was wondering about October? Thanks.
