Last days in Rome must go to beach

My family of 5, including 2 teenage girls, must go to a beach to relax before heading back to the States after an 8 day Rome-Florence-Tuscany trip. Going in 4 weeks (mid-August) and want to find a place for 5 on/near a beach near Rome and then head to airport on 4th morning. Any ideas?? Having a hard time making this part work! Thanks!

Is that 8 days in each of Rome, Florence and Tuscany? Or are you trying to cover all 3 in just 8 days? If so, that really isn't much time for them all. Given 2 days will be lost to travel it's really only 6 full days for all three and that assumes the first day is not your arrival day which is also a write off.

If you leave Rome on the 8th day, that's another day lost to travel. Does that mean you are down to only 5 full days in the 3?

For the last part (a beach), it looks like this.
Day1 to beach and hotel
Day2 beach
Day3 beach
Day4 leave for home.

Why lose that day moving just to spend 2 days at a beach? Here is a radical thought for you Sherita. Why not stay in your hotel in Rome and just commute to the beach for the day?

It's interesting that people often don't think of a city as having a beach when in fact many have beaches right in the city. Chicago and Toronto come to mind for example. At 45 minutes by train, Rome just about has a beach in the city. It takes as long to drive to some of the suburbs after all.

We have 8 days planned travel, excluding the 2 to arrive and depart and will be on a tour, hence, the need for 3 additional relaxing last few days at the beach (13 total). We are quite the traveling family, just looking for some good beach ideas for this trip. Your Rome to beach day trips may be the way to go. Just looking for input such as yours. Thanks!

Look at Sperlonga, south of Rome, too. It is not a day trip, but could work for you.

Guess what! We went to Lido Ostia near Rome and just loved it. Stayed in Arun Blu Hotel and it was fabulous. Just exactly what we needed. Don't listen to negative reviews on websites. You will be surprised at what you could miss out on. Sherita.
