Lake Garda/Trento accomodations

Help! Our friend in Trento is now required to be out of town on business and our plans to stay with her are out. Anyone know of a nice, moderately priced place to stay in the Lake Garda, Trento area during June? We plan to hike the area around the lake...
thanks for any suggestions...

Carol, For good info go to these sites.
www.garda.com
www.gardalake.it
I would suggest staying in Riva or in Malcesine. I like the Hotel Sole in Riva, but there are many good options.

Note: if you are looking into staying in Limone--or west side of lake, the road from Riva to Limone is closed due to a landslide last winter. It will not open until sometime late July I believe. There is a ferry, I'm told, but you are probably better off staying in Riva or Malcesine.

Hi Carol! You can also try the web page of the Trento Province, which lists accomodations, prices, and has links to websites: http://www.trentino.to/newapt/pages/uk/index.htm

We stayed in the center of Trento per se. We arrived without reservations, and stayed at the Aquila d'Oro (150,000 lira including buffet breakfast for a double). It was a business-like, three-star hotel, not particularly charming, but clean, with private bathroom, elevator, and right in the center of town (if you lean out the window you could see the duomo). Lake Garda will definitely have more charming accomodations, but I'm letting you know of this option, just in case. We had a wonderful meal at Ristorante Chiesa. Their specialty is an all-apple menu that was fantastic! Even if you stay in Lake Garda, make sure to eat one day in Trento. Enjoy!

thanks for all the good info! Looks like we'll be staying at Castel Pergine with reasonable half board - it's a renovated castle and it's written up by Fodor's as a restaurant, it's by Trento, close to Garda. The nicer hotels on the eastern shore of the lake were booked, but we're looking forward to the castle!
