I haven't eaten there, but everyone who has been to the restaurant on the Isola Comacina (I forget the name of the place) absolutely raves about it. It serves mostly tourists, but includes a wonderful history lesson of a truly fascinating island.

For something cheap and downscale but utterly delicious, there is a local pizza hangout straight up the hill from the Hotel Bella Vista in Mennagio. The ambience is non-existant, but you two can eat like there's no tomorrow for 10 bucks.
