From the Style magazine, by Suzy Menkes:

I wish I had saved those pretty boxes!

I miss Suzy Menkes so much. She is a lot of fun. I once sat next to her flying the Concord between NY and London.

I throw all my boxes away from Laduree because I just don't have the room for them, sweetie darling.

I do, however, save my coffee tins from Hediard because I store my "pills" in them.

Booze and pills, sweetied darling, here in The Valley of the Dolls!

Well, this is a far cry from Laduree, but McCann's Irish Oatmeal comes in handsome, worth-saving, tins..look:

They might even be big enough for your pills! I like the black and white with the gold..

Yes, Thinster, I can hear you groaning about the mention of oatmeal and macaroons in the same post!!

I always loved the boxes and, in fact, the matching color of the shops themselves--looking like one big lush box of lovely pastries!

But I am a bit dismayed to read in the article that the color dates only from 1993. But I don't know why...

I have one! It's oval and pale green. My husband and I had dessert at the location on the Champs Elysees and bought one mini macaron of each flavor except licorice, which looked too gross. He laughed at me for finding room in our luggage to bring the box home. (No macarons lasted for the trip back.)

cigalechanta, do you want one? We have a Ladurée here in Lausanne and I will be in Paris next month and then in Salem visiting my family (yay!) in March. I would be happy to pick one up (with or without macaroons) and send it to you in March.

Carolyn, the licorice macaroon from Laduree is my FAVOURITE! #2 is pistachio.

Thin--who ate a box of 14 Laduree macaroons three weeks ago.

We have three Laduree boxes that we kept. Our spare bedroom is decorated in shades of purple, and as each of my Laduree boxes are purple I have them displayed in the room. I couldn't bring myself to part with them because they are so pretty!

Yum...some of those special flavors sound really good! My favorite flavor was rose, so I would be interested in trying indian rose.

I had the pleasure of eating a mango jasmin macaroon a few weeks ago. It was fab but my favorites are still chocolate and caramel.
I had to leave my lovely box in the hotel. No room in my luggage.
