Anyone got any top recommendations for places to eat in Rome?<BR>I'd like somewhere incredibly romantic for one night (wedding anniversary) plus some really good value places.<BR>Thanks !

For some slightly modern Italian food, with really great friendly service try Boccondovino. I had my last mael in Rome there, and was thrilled with their pastas and their great house white. Piazza in Campo Marzio 6.<BR><BR>Da Gigetto is a happy, casual Roman-Jewish place. Wonderful for sitting outside, with the happiest waiter I have ever met. Beware they free salad if you don't like anchovies--it nearly killed me. Via del Portico d'Ottavia 21/A.<BR><BR>Myosotis is a very sedate, upscale spot, with stunning traditional food. It was very empty the day I had lunch there, just me and an Italian family. There is a nice little market across the street mid-day. Vicolo della Vacarella 3-5.<BR><BR>Tre Scalini is fun for people watching and a great place for the first lunch in Rome, as it is on the Piazza Navona. Definitely order the tartuffo for dessert!<BR><BR>For food served by nonna, head to Risotrante del Pallaro. It can de difficult to find, but is totally worth the search. Just simple Italian food, served with house wine and some hugs from the owner. Largo del Pallaro 15. <BR><BR>If you are foodies, I recommend Uno e Bino. You will need reservations, the space is tiny and a bit noisy, but the food is just amazing. I found the clean lines and soft lighting more romantic that the frou-frou used by the more traditional places. It is a no smoking restaurant, definitely a place to take it slow and just enjoy. These are the restaurants that come to mind from our last trip:<BR><BR>* ECCE BOMBA is located in a side street off Piazza Navona. We enjoyed a very good and reasonably priced meal. This is a small family restaurant with friendly service near the Piazza Navona which my Italian husband's cousins took us to for dinner. You must try the Roman artichokes. They are wonderful. <BR><BR>* Ambasciata d'Abruzzo, via Pietro Tacchini in Parioli district. Excellent food. Appetizers, dessert, wine and liquores included in fixed price meal. Residential area, homstyle, good quality and lots of food. Specialties from Abruzzi region. Recommended by my son's Italian teacher and we enjoyed it very much.<BR><BR>* Casina Valadier in the Pincio. Beautiful view overlooking Villa Borghese and Rome. Nice spot for lunch or lemonade on a summer day (more expensive). Also recommended by Italian teacher.<BR><BR>* Tre Scaline in Piazza Navona. Recommended by several people. Good food, nice location, very friendly service. Their tartufo is excellent.<BR><BR>Have a great time.<BR>

Cappricio Italiano...food served family style (at your table). Although you do not share your table with other patrons,<BR>this restaurant is not one I would choose for a "romantic" evening. However, it was great fun and the food was wonderful!

Tullio's near Via Veneto. A classic Italian trattoria with simple white tablecloths and great food. Lots of locals inhabit the place,(we sat next to the owner of Brioni tuxedos), and the wine list is excellent. Try a bottle of a Sicilian Malvasia for desert with a few biscotti.
