And the best flamenco dance festival in the world goes on right now in Jerez de la Frontera, about one hour drive from Sevilla. Rocío Molina tonight at midnight in Bodegas González Byass will probably be one of the major flamenco events this year. https://www.tickentradas.com/eventos...gonzalez-byass

About Molina, the most cutting edge flamenco dancer on the planet: http://www.theguardian.com/stage/201...-bosque-ardora

But fabulous performances in the days to come also, if you can get hold of tickets: http://www.jerez.es/index.php?id=festival-jerez

Thanks kimhe - unfortunately my husband has been under the weather these last few days in Seville so we can't get to Casa de la Memoria.

We leave Tuesday for a week in Madrid staying near Plaza Major - any suggestions where to see Flamenco within walking distance?

Gracias!

Three of the best tablaos in the country are all some 5-10 minutes walking from Plaza Mayor.
Casa Patas: http://www.casapatas.com/
Cardamomo: https://cardamomo.es/
Corral de la Moreria: http://www.corraldelamoreria.com/en/index.html

One of my favourites, Juan José Jaén Arroyo "El Junco" dances in Corral de la Moreria every night your week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sENoCuTQYPs

And fabulous Paloma Fantova dances in Cardamomo on the same dates. Here she tears the walls down in one of the greatets dance theaters in the world, Sadler's Wells in London: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ck7hMzNH3b8

kimhe - Table 21 booked at Cardamomo Sunday night. Our goddaughter and her boyfriend are flying in from London for the weekend so we're very excited about this show.

In the meantime I think Richard and I should go to Corral de la Moreria - agree?

kimhe - Paloma Fantova was amazing as were all the other performers (a total of 6). If we can get tickets we're all going to go to Corral de la Moreria tonight.

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy Flamenco - I've seen it before but obviously it was cheesy tourist stuff not the quality we've seen here.

Thank you again for your help!

(leaving Spain tomorrow after 7 weeks - have had a wonderful time)

Glad you enjoyed it!

And I now just see that Marco Flores dances tonight at 10.30 in Casa Patas, excellent venue, arguably the over all best in the country in recent years. Flores was voted best male flamenco dancer by Spanish critics a few years ago:

But El Junco in Corral de la Moreria would also be great.
