No way. They both open at 9:30 AM, so there's no way to get an early enough start to enjoy both.

Technically it is possible. But not a good idea. it is hard to do on your own but there are tour companies that combine the two in one day trip. I am not recommending it though.<BR><BR>Do a search on the board. A few weeks ago there were a couple of long discussions on this combo and the threads include all the info you will ever need including bus route numbers etc.

Wait a minute.Maybe I don't understand the question,but if you want to go to Hampton Court then Kew GARDENS? in one day,it is doable and I did it with friends who live in Richmond.<BR>We went to Hampton Court in the morning,left after noon,into Kew and wandered the gardens,greenhouses,walked along the Thames,wandered into town,had tea at Maids of Honor.<BR>Went back to the hotel in London around 5-6pm.The train station is right in Kew,15 minutes or so into town.

I did say that technically it is doable. But assuming you get from London to HCP by 10AM, take a MINIMUM of 4 hours to see - that's the very minimum in the summer since the grounds alone take about an hour. Eat lunch, catch a bus etc. you would not get to Kew until late in the afternoon and not have time to visit but a fraction of the gardens. <BR><BR>Kew takes a minimum of 4 or 5 hours unless one has little interest in gardening - and that's if so why would one want to go to Kew in the first place.

Thanks for your replies. I think we may try to get to Hampton Court as early as it opens and then just play it by ear after that.

FYI - To help you plan - HCP opens at 10:15 on Mondays and at 9:30 on the other days of the week.

It is probably possible to 'get to both places' in one day, but to truly 'see' a palace that took 500 years to create and a garden that contains one of the worlds most exotic collections in one day? Really only possible if you have no interest in history or botany.<BR>Are you of the 'check list' theory of travel or not?<BR>Only you can decide.

I had planned on doing both in one day when I was in London a few years back but I so thoroughly enjoyed HCP that I spent the whole day there so 'playing it by ear' is probably a good idea!<BR>Enjoy...
