Kenmare or Killarney

Which town would you stay in for 2 nights enroute to Dingle? Also, what are your B&B recommendations? We want to be close enough to walk to pubs and not have to drive after dinner. A brisk walk of about 15 minutes is the maximum we would want to walk to pubs and restaurants.

Also should mention that we are looking in the 70-85 E price range. Thank you for all your suggestions.

We liked Kenmare and Killarney very much, but we stayed at Murphy's Farmhouse Inn in Castlemaine, and then drove to Dingle. We liked the Inn very much, and within very short walking distance was Murphy's Pub. I am sorry I do not remember the price of the Inn, but I do think it was within your price range (euro).

I hope others respond to you with more information. Have a lovely time.

I was reading another post, and found information about Kenmare from "chatham", and IrishEyes. They posted a B&B The Lodge in Kenmare, and said it was great. IrishEyes gave the address: wwwthelodgekenmare.com

Hope this helps.

Killarney is bigger, more hectic and more touristy. Kenmare is more laid back, easy to walk. Hope that helps guide you in your decision.

20 days and counting until we leave for Ireland!

we are returning for a 2 day stay in kenmare this summer...this time with extended family members.

convenient access to beara pen., ROK, killarney national park

really enjoyed kenmare 1st time around-very walkable, fun pubs, good food, walk to the stone circle...drove thru killarney, very crowded, not as charming. drive between kenmare and killarney is beautiful.

we chose the hawthorn house this time (last time at rockcrest house...on side street up a hill on edge of town-fine but hawthorne house appears to be closer). I have also seen hawthorn house suggested on this site before. looking forward to our stay in june!

We stayed at the Shelbourne Lodge in Kenmare -- it's probably a 10 minute easy walk into town.

Best breakfast I've ever had at a guesthouse
