Kempinski Frankfurt

Plans have changed, and I'm now to travel to Frankfurt (for various reasons) for a few nights.

Having searched on here, and returned very little from vintage posts, could you offer your opinions on the Kempinski hotel please.

Many thanks.

I haven't stayed there. But I know the property and one reason for not having stayed there for me is that it isn't anywhere in Frankfurt proper, but rather in Gravenbruch, just East of Neu-Isenburg to the South of Frankfurt. It is only about 10 km into the city center of Frankfurt, but this place feels rather apart, if you catch my drift. It is a palace like building and I suppose pretty nice.
Kempinski operates some fine hotels IMO, with the Adlon in Berlin, the Atlantic in Hamburg and the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul jumping to mind.
I recall that recently the German Football team gathered there (I believe before their "spectecular" trip to the Euro 2004 championships, if that's of any help.
Before there used to be mixed reviews of the hotel's standard, but they might have undergone renovations.

My husband and I stayed at the Kempinski for one night in Oct. It is a very luxurious hotel. I would say 5 star.

Many thanks for those, for me it's the two swimming pools that is swinging it. I'm not bothered about being in Frankfurt per se, but I have to be in the area, and this hotel appealed. However, I would welcome other recommendations.

We spent 2 nights last October at this hotel and will spend a night again the end of December. I would highly recommend the hotel with just a couple of caveats. The rooms are very large, bathrooms extremely nice, personell are all very helpful. Beautiful pool. Fantastic breakfast - the most extensive of any of our trips - even lots of Japanese breakfast foods! There are 2 large dining rooms - both very nice and both very expensive! The only problem - the rooms and hallways are in dire need of refurbishing. Carpet is threadbare in the hallway and the sleeping room furniture is more than a little worn. However, that being said, we obviously didn't mind it too much as we are going back again. I leave Thursday so if you have any other questions please email me before I leave.
