KD Rhine 'Nostalgic Route'
Hi, i am in USA and heading to Frankfurt soon in a week, i came across KD Rhine Cruise 'Nostalgic Route'.
I would like to know if this is a hop-on-hop-off cruise or just scenic view from ship.
Which is the preferred route in KD Rhine, i am interested in visiting the small town / castles instead viewing it from ship...what would you prefer.
I am very much confused at this time, i want to board this cruise if i have a chance to get down and go back to ship.
I would stay in Mainz.
Thanks

If you are staying in Mainz, then the best thing would be to buy a Rhineland Pfalz Länder ticket for 27 euro, and ride the train up and down the Rhine all day long. Then you can on and off the train as much as you like and the view is no different than from the boat. Take the train all the way to Koblenz on one side of the river and take the train back on the other side. This way you get to see all of the castles.

Uh, Frankfurt?
Tons to see and do there, depending on your interests. Medieval churches, museums, galleries, farmers markets, old cemeteries, festivals, concerts, theater, beautiful old neighborhoods and so on. It is a fun city to take photos in as there are so many contrasts.

Gotta agree with Ira. Having taken the KD cruise boats, driven along the highway beside the Rhine and taken the train, I much prefer the boat for the relaxed manner in which you can set up pictures and enjoy yourself. There are loads of spots to stop between Koblenz going south to Bacharach. Enjoy yourself.
