There is a lot of instability in that region right now, but it's very exotic from what I've heard (I haven't been there myself). It's cheap too (once you get there).

I say go for it!! The unrest right now is in eastern Uzbekestan. Don't worry and had a great time. Be sure to post a trip report for us.
