Just Back from Santorini/Athens
Hi, just a short note on our trip to Greece..Booked with Fantasy Travel, and everything was excellent...All of our transfers and hotels, ferries and flights worked out great...Loved the Attalos Hotel, great location and pretty decent for a budget hotel..We stayed in 2 rooms, the first was small, but very clean..The second room was quite large, a view of the Acropolis, a balcony, new bathroom and flooring, and also very clean...Really enjoyed Athens...Santorini was awesome..Took the highspeed ferry from Pireaus, no delays..Stayed at Volcano View Villas, absolutely loved it, other than the bathroom, but the view was outstanding..Oia was also great..Santo Winery was alot of fun..sampled some wine with great views of the Aegean and Volcano..Used the hotel shuttle to Fira and then took local bus to anywhere we went...Don't go to Akrotiri, it is under construction and a waste of time...Although Greek food was excellent, we really enjoyed Senor Zorbas, great view of the sunset and great Mexican food..Walking distance from VVV...
Speaking of food, great feta cheese, and try out the yogurt with honey...For a cheap meal, can't go wrong with a gyro... Santorini is an awesome place to take photos...

Caymansreef,
To answer your question, we too thought Akrotiri was a waste of time. There's a huge building covering the excavations and we got to see very little of it. We had taken the local bus there and what we could see only took 5 minutes or so. We had expected to see soooo much more than we did. Really disappointing. And to top it off, we had to wait over an hour for the bus. Will rent a car the next visit.
