Hi--going on a Celebrity cruise in October and visiting the Greek Isles (Santorini--Mykonos--Rhodes) Do we need to take shore excursions or can we just walk around for a few hours whithout the tours? Any help greatly appreciated--Thank You

Hi BRIALL
If you only have a few hours on the island then I'd use them to walk through Mykonos Town and perhaps check the places I mentioned earlier in this thread.
The majority of the shore excursions take you to well known Mykonos beaches (usually not to swim in, just to view!)and a visit to Ano Mera.

We will be on a cruise this october spending 2-11 pm in Mykonos. We can take a ship tour of Delos that lasts 4 hours. Is it worth taking this tour or will we miss to much of Mykonos, considering the daylight hours. We love the history and not into the party life. Cant miss taking photos of the windmills.

Respondiing to Wibox -- taking pictures of the windmills will take about 10 minutes including walking there from the port.
I'm guessing that getting to Delos will take 30 minutes each way, maybe a little less, so that's only 3 hours on Delos...take water & a snack. I happen to think a guided tour of Delos is worth it, IF the guide really has a knowledge of the archeology/history/mythology -- without SOME info, the site doesn't make as much sense. Check with the ship and be sure it isn't just some dumb guide with a canned spiel..but a knowledgeable person, then go for it.
