Hello! I just returned from my 15 day honeymoon to Rome, Positano, Venice, Monterosso, and Siena. Any questions?

How lucky you are to have gone on such a wonderful honeymoon. I'm curious as to which place you found most romantic?<BR><BR>Congratulations on your marriage.

I'm thinking 2 nights in Venice, 4 nights in Siena, and 2 nights in Cinque Terre. Any thoughts? Did you go to Florence? Hey Amber ..Congrats!!<BR>We are thinking of visiting Italy for around 10 days in Nov(Thanksgiving). Plan to visit Rome ,Venice, Florence and maybe Milan. What is the best way to go from one place to another-did u guys drive or take the train or bus ?<BR>We would love to drive - if it doesnt take too long.

My fiance lives in Cinque Terra and I go there 4-5 times a year. I would not recommend going to Monterosso al Mare as that is the biggest of the CT towns and the least personable. I would recommend staying in Riomaggiore to get more of a local feel. The 'Villa Argentina' is my recommendation and 80e/night includes breakfast and possibly a seaview room (dependent on availability). You can walk from Riomaggiore to both Manarola and Corniglia, then take the train up to Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare.

Amber,<BR><BR>We are planning to honeymoon in Italy next August for two weeks. We've never been to Italy, so we'd like to get in a mixture of sightseeing and relaxing. Dear Actarheel ,<BR> I wish there was something I could say that would stop you from going to Italy in August. It will be very hot, crowded and expensive. Go even a month later in Sept. and it will be as different as night and day. Please reconsider ....

A quick answer from Italy (I live near Milan).<BR><BR>REMEMBER:<BR>1) travelling in Italy it's much more complex than in the States particularly in July and August. The train is probably the best choice BUT you have to book seats in advance.<BR>2) the same sort of difficulties could be found in hotel search... again plan your trip and book hotel stay in advance<BR>3) avoid to plan visiting too many places or regions, don't mix north with central or south Italy destinations!<BR>In North: Venice (it's a must!), Vicenza, Mantua, Bergamo, Como's lake (Bellagio...) and Milan<BR><BR>Hoping to be useful... ciao.<BR><BR>Sorry...I have forgotten to say that I spend my last several years vacations in the States!!!<BR> Ciao again and enioj your trip to Italy, it's a great place.

I was in Italy in August, as this is the only time of year I can vacation. It wasn't hot (not humid like it is in Toronto), the sun shone everyday, and it wasn't anymore crowded than I expect it will be when all the Italians are back in the cities from their vacations, and all the retired and other folks who can travel in September will be there! We had a great time, I would definitely go in August.

Congrats Amber!<BR><BR>My husband and I are planning a trip to Italy and are looking into doing an independent tour of Rome, Florence & Venice. Did you make your own travel arrangements or did you go with a pre-arranged package? Would you do anything different if you were to do it all over again?

I was in Italy in March of this year, and the weather was great! I asked my guide about traveling in Italy during the summer months, and he said it was a bad idea because it is too touristy of a time...and prices are much higher. He suggusted, if you do travel during the summer months, to stay away from the more popular northern cities like Venice and go for the more remote places like Urbino and Assissi, but if you want a night life, I would recommend the larger cities.
