Just Airports - tip or not tip?

We hired just airports for 2 tranfers:
1. Heathrow to Central London
2. Central London to Dover
Is it usual to tip or not?
I read than most people don´t tip taxi drivers in London since they make enough money.

I'm bringing this to the top since I'm using Airports.com on Monday and also would like to know about tipping.

Simone mentions not tipping taxi drivers in London. Do you tip? If so, how much?

We have never not tipped a taxi driver and can't imagine the look we would get if we didn't.

"By Taxi: Taxis can get caught in traffic; the trip from Heathrow, for example, can take more than an hour and costs at least £35. Your hotel may be able to recommend a car service for airport transfers. Charges are usually about £35 to any airport. Add a tip of 10 to 15% to the basic fare."

So taxi drivers should be tipped.

I would tip slightly less to a shuttle service, given that there are generally stops other than mine along the way.

Not sure about others here but so far our taxi drivers in Paris already figure in their tis in the total fare.

I would normally tip them about 10% (more if they give you a sort of commentary or tour while they take you).

Meanwhile I wondered if you were the one who asked about transport to Dover, but don't think you are. I'm really curious. How much are they charging to take you from London to Dover? Is there a reason you're doing that instead of just taking a train direct? It sounds frightfully expensive, so I'm just curious.

They charged 99 GBP to go from London to Dover. The problem with train is that we have to get to Victoria Station and then into the train and then to the docks and handle our lugagge by ourselves (2 heavy ones+2 carry ons each)and my husband is 70 and not really strong and neither am I.

Simone,

We used Just Airports last year for 3 transfers between hotels and airports. They were prompt and curteous and we would use them again. We did tip them about 10%.

Please report back after your trip and let us know how they worked out for you. We will be returning to London in July this year so I am curious.

Thanks,

Ginny
