Just Airports

Have seen recent posts on Just airports being cheaper than swiss cottage or Ray skinner. Wondering if there is a reason they are cheaper. drivers? cars? something not up to standards of the other services? will be there in 2 weeks and need to pick one of these. (will not be using the train or underground or buses, so do not suggest). thanks.

We used justairports when we were in London last month, and we would use them again. They charged us £44 from Gatwick to our hotel (Waldorf) and £39 from the hotel to Gatwick, and there were three of us. A van picked us up from the airport, and a station wagon picked us up from the hotel to bring us to the airport. The cars used were not fancy but they were clean and served the purpose. The drivers were pleasant and polite.

We used JustAirports for pick-up and return from Heathrow in March and were very pleased by their service.

The driver was waiting for us at the appointed place and time with a sign with our name on it. The vehicle was a 4 door Mercedes.

On return, the driver arrived on time at our hotel. The car was a four door Ford Taurus.

Both drivers wore a sport coat and tie and were very cordial.

We found the cash price to be very reasonable and well worth it.

Why would you assume that because one service is cheaper than another it wou;ld be because they "aren't up to standards"? Could it just be that the others are the ones which are "overpriced?"

Well generally there is a cost to doing business. any business. and if the price gets too low there is usually a reason. In this case, it could be lower paid, less experienced drivers, cars that are not as well maintained, or are old, etc. of course agree that at the higher end you may be paying for a deluxe type of service you may not want or need.

I concur with the other positive comments concerning Just Airports. I used them on four separate occasions, and each time the drivers were on time, courteous, and helpful. The cars were not part of a fleet and varied each time, but they were all safe and comfortable. I have no hesitation in recommending the service.

Do they charge extra to wait at the airport? or is that included in the fee?

According to the website, they include 40 minutes of waiting from the time the plane lands. Additional time is charged at 25p per minute. The price from the airport to London is therefore higher than the price from London to the airport.

I've booked Just Airports for an upcoming trip and here is their response regarding waiting time at the airport.

>>The driver will monitor the flight
and enter the terminal 30 min after the plane touch down. He will wait
another 40 min free. This will give you an total of 1 hour and 10 min free
waiting time after the plane touch down. There after he will charge waiting time at the rate of 25 pence per minute/£15 per Hour. <<<

Joanel,
Just a follow-up. In addition to the waiting time, the pick-up at Heathrow fee is slightly more because they pay for short term parking.

Also, I don't know this for a fact, but my hunch is that the drivers are independant contractors. I believe that they use their own vehicles.

After a long flight, it is great to see a driver waiting for you. Returning, it's a relief to not worry about getting to the airport on time.

They do monitor the flights. Our flight was delayed for over an hour and half, and they did not charge us more because of the delay. The driver had to pay for short term parking, thus the £5 difference in the pickup at airport to hotel pricing versus the pickup at hotel to airport. It was pouring when we left the hotel to the airport, and we were very glad to have a car service.

Just out of curiousity, how long does it usually take to get out of the airport? I assume you have to get luggage, clear customs, get money from the ATM...

For some reason, I cannot access the website for Just Airports. Any suggestions? We are looking for transportation from London Gatwick to Morgan Hotel in Bloomsbury in June for two adults and one child. Thanks!

HAR32JU34: I personally wouldn't book a car service from Gatwick into central London (I do it from Heathrow frequently). From Gatwick a car just takes FOREVER. LGW is a lot farther outside London then LHR is and the roads are usually very congested. There is a fast (30 mins) and relatively inexpensive Express train directly from the terminal to Victoria station from where you can catch a cab or take the tube to your hotel and be there probably a hour faster than using a car service. Or you can take a slightly cheaper and slightly slower Thameslink train.

We just returned from a ten-day trip to London and used JustAirports. Prices (£31 from Heathrow to Waldorf, £26 return) significantly less than Ray (who took weeks to respond to our online booking request, contrary to the promised 24 hours). Driver was at Hertz desk upon arrival with our name on a sign, took care of our bags, delivered us to the hotel in a very new mini-van; same returning. We were very pleased.

I would recommend printing and bringing along the e-mail confirmation, however, as the driver upon arrival wanted to charge £5 waiting time, which the e-mail clearly stated was included. And, be sure to check your watch when you land and again when you meet the driver (our flight actually landed 15-20 minutes early, which I doubt the drive was aware of). He did apologize profusely, when I mentioned the times and pulled out my copy of the confirmation e-mail for the "misunderstanding".

It took us about exactly an hour after landing to get to (long, long walk) and clear passport control, pick up our bags, visit the restrooms and the ATM (a bit of a line) on a Thursday morning.
