The only one I know anything about really is The Westbury Hotel in Dublin. It is a big hotel and quite luxurious, rather expensive too, I imagine....but worth it, if you want to be right in the heart of everything. Dublin's premier shopping street, Grafton Street is literally 30 seconds walk away, and right beside the hotel is a lovely little shopping mall, with all kinds of small specialist shops. St. Stephens Green too is a 2 minute stroll and Trinity College, just 5 minutes away. Enjoy yourself.

I just returned for Ireland this week. I would suggest staying away from the Great Southern Hotel. We saw MANY tour buses outside which turned us off. While in Galway we stayed at a B&B called the Marless House on Threadneedle Road in the Salthill section. It was wonderful.

The Great Southern is a great place to stay. Don't worry about the tour buses. Ireland is filled with them. Whenever any of my family and friends in Ireland travel to Galway, they always stay at the Great Southern.

We also always stay at the Great Southern. Many of the tour buses are just parked there because of Eyre Square and the tourist office, not because of the hotel. The Great Southern is very convenient and a wonderful old hotel. In Clifden look at Mal Dua House if you're going that way. In Killarney, we like the Muckross Park Hotel--a bit out of the congested little town and an easy walk through the park to Muckross House. There's a pretty little pub attached to the hotel for informal meals--think it's Molly's.

I agree with Jill. We returned from Ireland Sunday, and stayed at Marless House on Treadneedle Road in the Salthill section for two nights. Mary was very kind with information for the rest of our trip. The full Irish breakfast was the best! She even made french toast! Put in Marlesshouse.com for pictures. Enjoy!

My husband and I just returned from Ireland last week. We stayed at an excellent and reasonable hotel in Galway called the Park Tower Hotel. It's practically next door to the Great Southern. Great rate, beautifully decorated, only 5 years old, and a delicious breakfast is included. We would stay there again. However, we did walk by the Jury, and it looked really nice too, and also offers great rates. Good luck!
