I don't know if it's required, but I'd think one would want to dress that way at a fine restaurant. At recent lunch at Le Grand Vefour every man had on at least jacket/tie, some suits.

As Sue said, don't know about a requirement but you would be alone possibly if not in a coat and tie. It is a fine dining occasion.

Kate,

When we dined there for lunch last September, I don't recall seeing a single gentleman there who wasn't wearing a jacket. It's definitely a place to dress for.

Strive

Question view that JV ought to be considered a fine dining experience. It's the view that attracts tourists, not the food. Juts my opinion. I've seen lots of attention goven to this place - but rarely any feedback on whether it was a great meal. I have some doubts about this place! Show me the error of my ways, please.

Well, it is a 1* establishment and the food, wine and service were elegant.

I phoned the JV before I went and asked about the dress code: jacket required for dinner, but not for lunch.

Also, in response to RnR: I haven posted here a couple of times to say how incredible the food was at the Jules Verne, and I've seen lots of others saying the same. It is great!!
