Okay, that's it folks. Hope those of you who had the stamina to wade through the entire thing did enjoy it.
It is unfortunate that certain symbols entered in Microsoft Word, such as the quotation marks, hypen, apostrophy, etc., got interpreted on this board as a question mark, which has affected the quality of the read, I am sure.

Wow! Great report. Really enjoyed your writing style. It sure brought back lots of memories of our trip to Rome last summer. Italy is such a wonderful country to visit. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Thanks for the report, I did read it all and it was funny and informative at the same time. I will save it for future reference, you have some added tidbits of information that I didn't know before, such as the statue of Moses' beard!

I haven't had time to read all yet, but what I did read was quite entertaining. Your sense of humor sounds a lot like mine out there. I also found it funny that you entered the wrong museum at the Borghese. I had a similar experience elsewhere in Rome. At the end of a long, long, day, I was so tired, and it was getting dark. I didn't take time to look at my map properly and didn't notice that there were two museums across the street from one another. I had a nice little tour of one before realizing to my embarrassment and brief horror that I had entered the wrong one. Hey, those ancient statues can look alike after a while, you know. I barely had time to get to the other and look around before it closed. I like your ideas about the bone chandelier too - beats an urn. That church is really something to see. Thanks for posting.

I loved your story. Why don't YOU buy an old Villa in Italy and write about that! I'll buy it!! Yes, I know its been done... but I'd bet you'd add a bit of flare! In fact, you got me busted! Reading this at work, in a lawyers office, we don't often laugh out loud...

Very enjoyable account! I will be printing it out for the Rome tidbits. I have a silly question. At one point you mentioned you saw a free table at a cafe so you sat at it. Does this mean that there is not a hostess as at American restaurants? You just sit down at a table and eventually they notice you and come take your order? I would never have realized that, and would have stood patiently at a door forever waiting to be seated while I slowly starved to death.

Well, I have returned from my trip to attend a wedding.
Hi Nicegirl. Actually, as far as grabbing an unoccupied table while in Rome, it really depends on the restaurant and the location. Often, if the table is outside and no one greets you immediately, you can just grab the table. Inside, in nicer places (other than "bars" which serve food), you will be shown to a table. Play it by ear.
I guess you could say it is much like the USA in that regard.
