Join the Fodorland map!

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...021a84995901de

INSTRUCTIONS

o Log on to a Google account (Gmail, AdWords, whatever)
o Click the map URL above
o Navigate to your neighborhood
o Click the "Edit button" - a toolbar will appear on the map*
o Select the second tool button "Add a placemark"
o Release the button
o Drag the "X" to where you want the pointer to be
o Left-click
o Type your Fodor's handle in the "Title" box that points to your placemark
o Add a comment in the "Description" box if you wish
o Hit OK
o Over on the left, hit "Done"

* If you don't see the "Edit" button, you probably aren't logged in to a Google account. This requirement is to discourage nameless vandals from messing up the map.

PS: How did you create the link? I'd like to do one for my upcoming cruise.

Thanks,

Hi Robespierre,

Well, I thought I figured it out. I tried to set up a map for my fellow cruise passengers; however, it doesn’t seem to be working. I copied your instructions for them to add their placemark, but only mine shows.

Could you please tell me how you created the fodorland map so I could see what step(s) I might have missed?

Thanks!!

Monica

I fear that describing how to create a map would only confuse them. Which step doesn't work?

Just a suggestion to those who choose to add to the map; please take the time to type in your general location in the "Title" box. I looked at a number of your locations, and you can see the street map/satellite location, but unless you take the time to zoom way out there is no real way of knowing where you are. Just the name of the town in the title box would make things much clearer.
