JD Wetherpsoons' sunday lunch - Very good.
Yesterday I broke the habit of a lifetime and had sunday lunch in a 'spoons.
I have to say I wasnt looking forward to it but it was very good indeed.
I had the half a roast chicken and my bird (I know how how to show a bint a good time) had the beef.
I had the fat bastards version where you pay an extra 1.50 and get more stuff. So with a drink included it came to 7.50.
Well worth and highly recommended if you're looking for a cheap roast on a sunday. I believe that it's all cooked off site and heated up on the premises so the quality should be consistent.
CW - flabbergasted.

That's true of more pub lunches than a lot of people know: just keep an eye out for the vans from Brake's or 3663. Not necessarily a bad thing, though not inspiring.

JD wetherspoons are a huge pub chain.
Like I said I think they're all the same.
They're everywhere:

Weatherspoons also do a good value breakfast. We had one a few months back, and this is the earliest in the day I have ever seen people drinking pints of Stella.
Except for a First Great Western train journey which had some West Ham fans on board. Why would someone from Radstock support the Hammers?

Thanks - I checked out The Green Man (and learned that those chaps we saw dressed up in leaves at Borough Market on 1st May a year or so ago, were the acting out an ancient custom). I wish I had known more at the time.....would have stuck around a bit longer.

Strange how these things happen - I had a similar "dread" about an invite to eat at a "Toby Cavery". We went early one evening last week and had a very good meal. Huge Yorkshire pud, then a choice of beef, turkey or gammon (or all 3 if you like) plus all the veg you can eat.
This with two pints each of decent beer (Ringwood 49'er) and the total bill came to £18 for both of us (£5 each for the food plus £2 a pint) - I probably ate that in roast spuds alone

You've obviously never had a 6am flight out of E.Mids then. Something evidently happens to people when they get into an airport en route for the Costas or Majorca. No matter what the time they can get down a few swifties to get in the holiday mood. Fortunately I've never had to share a flight destination with them but I shudder to think...
