1) Wieskirche, Germany. As I got out of the car I wondered why the hell I had driven 1 hour out of my way to visit this small country church. When I stepped inside - my heart stopped - I had never, or have never seen anything so incredibly beautiful.

Although I have never worn a speedo, when Lufthansa lost our luggage, we had to buy some clothes for our stay in the Cinque Terre. It was very hot, so, like an idiot, I bought a tank top. When I stepped out of the shop, our friends who accompanied us on the trip yelled, "Look, it's one of the Village People." Needless to say, tank tops and speedos are verbotten in my wardrobe.

Leaving for the airport in Athens early in the morning, it was still dark. They said there was a great view of the Acropolis from the roof of our hotel. So, I took the elevator to the top and walked around to the back for the view. There was the Acropolis lit up with a full moon hanging over it. Breathtaking!

It's interesting that you mentioned Prague above. I was reading the whole thing getting ready to post: the most jaw-dropping experience for me was leaving an evening concert in the Rudolfinum in Prague and turning around to see the castle lit up against the night sky. Fantastic!

Howard, I was browsing the board for info on Verdun when I happened upon this thread and thought you posted a great conversation-starting question.

After some thought, another jaw-dropping sight from my travels would be from Hitler's Kehlsteinhaus (aka "Eagle's Nest"

It was a lovely, sunny day, and from near the top of the mountain we could see for miles - mountains, valleys, farmland, towns - just incredibly lovely.

I never saw maitaitom in a Speedo, but did see a guy in a very skimpy swimsuit on the beach at Torremolinos, and that pretty much scarred me for life.

Jaw dropping site: Sunset on an island in the Okavango Delta in Botswana Africa: A very proud and confident lioness saunters up to our (open sided) range rover, yawns lazily then lays down within touching distance of us. Thoughtiwasgunnadie - literally. Unbelievable photos - once my heart started again (and our guide said it was okay to take pics as long as we didn't stand up or move at all. Flash didn't even faze her)
