Jacquarred (sp?)Tea Towels

My sister just got back from France and has givven me several beautiful Jacquarred tea towels. (Sorry if my spelling is incorrect). What do you actually do with these towels? Do you hang them up on, use them to dry dishes, as table runners?
Thank you for your help.

The name is jacquard. Depending on the size, they are probably intended for drying dishes. You could certainly use them on a tabletop; I have some from Italy and frankly, they sit in my drawer because they are too pretty to use and have to be ironed after washing in order to look good. Perhaps you could use them as hand towels in the bathroom...

Both! I've used them to wipe dishs and others for small table tops. Some of the designs are lovely. Mine are the Jacquard Francaise made for Primrose Bordier.

Hi 1jan1, just use them. They are especially nice for drying glasses or glass items of any kind. Table runners, guest towels, whatever comes to mind. Just don't leave them sitting in a drawer. I firmly believe in using what I have otherwise what is the point of having them? Enjoy!!

This is an old thread, but the only one I could find on subject. My question: Do you prefer cotton or linen tea towels? I have both, iron with pleasure, use interchangeably, and wonder what others think. Thanks for opining!

If it's a "tea towel" that means a dish cloth - for drying dishes - if your dryer doesn't do a good job. If they're really pretty you can use them as decorations if you like.

I think the linen are generally prettier but I like the softer feel of the cotton ones better. I bought some Beauville torchons, as the French call them, in Ribeauville in Oct. to give as "tuck in" Christmas gifts.

It's jacquard. The cotton are more practical. I use them all the time.
