Jack Nicklaus on Scottish 5 pound note
Just now DH came into the room and told me that Jack Nicklaus would appear on the Scottish fiver. I found this very hard to believe and thought DH was full of it. But after a quick search on the web I discovered it's true. All opinions are welcome, but I'm most anxious to hear what the British think of this.

Doesn't really bother me much - I'm more concerned about how much my fiver will buy me, regardless of who's on the front!!
Seriously though, Nicklaus won't be on all new Scottish fivers - he will be on a limited number of "commemorative" notes issued by the Royal Bank of Scotland, but not on the notes issued by the two other Scottish banks, Bank of Scotland and Clydesdale Bank.

This was a very shrewd move by The Royal Bank of Scotland. They issued 2 million of the notes to tie in with The Open retirement of Nicklaus. They are already selling on ebay for 25 pounds and many will never make it into circulation because collectors are gobbling them up. So, probably a nice 9 to 10 million pound "profit" to RBS.
