Hi Scrb,
Hidcote would be a great visit. They even have a public sports area available for those who need a break from petals: cricket if memory serves. Added value awaits in the form of extended walking through adjoined Hidcote Bartrim and Hidcote Bryce. Their gift shop is substantial, with a wide variety of gardening things on offer.

Today we got an email from Kiftsgate's owner Anne Chambers thanking us for the shoutout. She won't remember me, but during our visit I'd naively asked her where the (out-of-season) namesake Kiftsgate roses were located. Kiftsgate is every bit as interesting as Hidcote and is right across the road.
We stayed only in CC in the Cotswolds. So our bases on that trip were CC and London.

Btw, we never edit and post fotos during trips. I prefer to use LR at a more relaxed pace. *forgot to list our Canon neoprene neck straps.
I meant what I said earlier about CC cottages and their relative proximity---happy to advise. Even if you do not stay at Cotswold House, don't miss its back garden. One of the best of its kind (check out the drone footage on their website).

I am done. the soaked Canon strap

Well, my goodness, Zebec!
What a marvellous tour of that corner of the Cotswolds you've given us. Thank you so much. I stumbled across this TR earlier in the afternoon & suffice to say, not much else was achieved in this household. Thoroughly enjoyed your entertaining & interesting stories, music & photos - and now I'm off to find what other TRs you've done. Made my day!

Merci Bok. Btw, there's a great read in a recent NYT article titled, 'The English Countryside is a Place of Profound Inequality'. It was written by Rebecca Smith about her childhood home up in the Lake District, and how the advent of AirB&B plus Tourism in general has changed that region in exclusive ways. Surely, the same concern applies to many regions in rural England. One can read that article over on the Rick Steves forum.

Other TRs that may be of interest to folks:

'Passage to China'
'Back to Brick' (London)
'En Pays Quebecois' (Montreal and Mt Tremblant)
'En Pays Villefranchois' (the Aveyron and Lot)
'Deep in the Desert' (Jordan)
'D'Aix' (Aix)
'Cuckoo for Cucuron' (Cucuron, Provence)
'Beyond the Pyramids' (Egyptian oases; no fotos but interesting stories)
'Metaxi Mas' (Greek isles plus Athens: a 5-parter)
'The Return of the Son of Isabel's Italy' (Venice)

*we will eventually be posting a TR for our most recent trip, the Amalfi coast. It'll include most of the coast plus Ischia.

Forgot these too:
-'Ocean Odyssey' (Vancouver island & city)--the complete version with fotos is here vs the edited, much shorter version over on the 'Odyssa' travel site.
-'Bella Puglia' (no fotos yet).
-'Provencal Echo' (meant to be paired with the 'D'Aix' foto essay.
-'Up at the Kotij' (Killbear National Pk. in northern Ontario, eh)
-'Burgundy and Paris' *some day we'll do a proper TR combining a number of Paris visits.
-'Heaven From Mana' (canoe trek in Mana Pools National Pk. in Zambia & Zimbabwe) --an article in the Brit mag 'Canoeist'.

I am done. The end.

Thanks for this great report and the fab pictures. I am thinking of returning to the Cotswolds next year and trying to decide where to stay. Perhaps near Broadway, not sure. I am somehow almost haunted by Stanway, who knows why but right now England seems more appealing than my usual Switzerland and Italy. Best wishes to you.
