Itinerary Iceland - 6 nights

Morning, i will visit Iceland next May, 15-21 (6 nights), would like to visit south and west, rent a car.

1 day - Arrive around 4 p.m - Overnight Reykjavik
2 day - Snaefellsjoekull National Park - Overnight Reykjavik
3 day - Golden Circle - Overnight Reykjavik
4 day - Blue Lagoon and travel south beach to Vik - Overnight Vik
5 day - Skaftafell - Overnight Vik
6 day - Travel back stopping in some places - Overnight Selfoss or Reykjavik
7 day - Flight leaves 4 p.m

So, is it possible to visit Blue Lagoon in first day or better to leave this for last day?

Tnks a lot,
Juliano.

Hi.

This is a good itinerary, I would recommend leaving as early as possible on day two as driving around Snæfellsness in a day from RVK is possible it will be a long drive. There are lots of really nice places to eat in Stykkisholmur which is one of Iceland´s prettiest towns. I would definitely leave the Blue Lagoon until the last day..and don´t forget to book as it is becoming increasingly over crowded. Finally - day 6 - you may as well head straight back to Reykjavik. Selfoss is nice but nothing really special and it only takes 1 hour to drive to RVK from Selfoss.

For car hire we used Reykajvik cars who were amazing.Hope this helps!

Hi, tnks a lot Minnietheminx.

On day tree, Is a good idea overnight around Selfoss? Cause in next day i will travel to Vik.

I am interested in Whale Watching, in your opinion can i include this in my trip? Read that in RVK there is a place that i could get this tour, maybe in day tree stay in RVK and get first tour before leave to Vik.

Tnks again.

It depends actually. 1 hour won't make a great difference, so stay where the place is better and/or the price more convenient. Maybe it makes sense to book something in Reykjavik for 3 nights in a row.

Whale watching is in Husavik, but, as far as i now, there are no whales in May.

As for the car rental, I also suggest Reykjavik cars - booked a car there last autumn and was quite pleased with the services and the vehicle.

Hi!
Well, I think it can be safe to book Blue Lagoon in advance, as the number of visitors grows. May is not a peak season, but still

Northtern lights in May? Impossible!

Hi!! tnks!!

I didn't find a budget hotel around Vik and get this one (Eldhraun Guest House Kirkjubæjarklaustur), but is about 50km from Vik, near Kirkjubæjarklaustur.

Is it a good idea get this one? I will stay 2 nights to visit Skaftafell and Jökulsárlón.
