Itinerary Help - Rome to ?? to Paris
I have a hole in my itinerary and am looking for suggestions! I am traveling to Florence, Cinque Terre and then Rome. I have planned adequate time in each of these cities and have about 3 days before I would need to be in Paris. Any suggestions? It would have to be accessible by plane or train (no car). I have looked into other places in Italy but nothing seems to interest me. I want to find a creative destination that won’t put me too off course from my final Paris destination.
Thanks in advance!

Have you also thought about the bus? It will be much easier to hop on and off.

Charnees, there is nothing particular I like or dislike about Italian destinations! This is my first trip to Europe and only a portion of the trip is mentioned above. I just want to be able to experience as many places/culture as possible.

You could fly to Marseilles, stay in Provence and then take the TGV to Paris.
Or fly to Lyon and stay there or in Burgundy. Here's a great place to stay: www.domainedesangespuligny.com
We stayed there last September and are returning this year.
Depending on what you want to do you could either rent a car on landing or stick with towns reachable by train or bus in either location. Either of those places is very different from Paris.

We stayed 2 nights in montepulciano (Tuscan countryside) on our way from Florence to Rome this May. We didn't have a car-took a cab from Chuisi train station to Montepulciano and then used the bus to see other hilltop towns and took the bus back to train after 3 days. Worked out great. Also, two years ago we visited Varenna on Lake Como and then trained to Cinque Terre. We ended up really enjoying a 24 hour stay in Milan. And then there is Venice...
