Of course there is stuff that you will miss as first timer--that's what next time is for! Set your 1 or 2 priorities each day, get to them and enjoy, and leave lots of room for stuff to happen, weather, longer than you thought at earlier sites, etc.

For Oxford==there are two bus lines. One is called Oxford Espress (their spelling mistake, not mine) and the other is the Oxford Tube (which is not nor has anything to do with the London Tube/Underground). They run basically the same routes from the same pickup points in London, I think, and used to cost exactly the same. You pay on the bus, ride to bus station in middle of Oxford, and get back on later at the end of your day. Check out their websites to see where they pick up in London; we caught one at Marble Arch. We just waited for the first one that came along and rode it. They are about 15 minutes apart for much of the day. Oxford is fabulous; you might check out walking tours from the Tourist Information office--can check on on-line for what tours are being done when you are there.
