Could be a big difference depending on where you are in Italy. Can you be more specific?

Later the better. April is early spring, May is my favorite, but many wait for June.

If the choice is between the 2 months, choose the later of the 2. Yes, the difference IS appreciable.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies I was looking to do a tour of all of Italy, just didn't want to book when it was raining, is the later months as in April better to avoid it.

Thanks again
Jeff

If you are going to tour all of Italy in the spring, try starting in the south and working your way up north. In the end of May even the area of the lakes in the north is very pleasant. February and March are quite cold even in Tuscany. The south is usually already quite warm in the end of March. You will probably take 2-3 weeks at least to see the whole country. My advice - start as late as you can and as far to the south as you want to be. It is not the hottest tourist season so you don't have to book anything in advance. Just look at the forecast when you're there and decide accordingly.
