Weather and sites to see

My parents are traveling to London at the end of March for about 4 days then to Italy in April for about 3 weeks, Rome, Florence, Venice then to Paris for about 5 days. They are not big travelers. They live in the San Francisco area of California. What kind of weather should they expect. Any other travel tips.

Hi Havilah,

well if the current weather continues, an umbrella will be useful. and waders. large parts of western England around Gloucester are under water, again. it's due to get to London and the south east tomorrow.

hopefully it'll dry up a bit by March.

Actually, that time of year can be lovely, or foul, or both. there is unlikely to be a heat-wave, and yo can probably discount snow. apart from that, it could do anything.

hope that helps.

regards, ann

I was in Paris in March, 2 years ago. We packed for weather like we would have in Idaho, in other words, jackets and warm sweaters.
I have never been so cold in my life! I don't know if it was just a bad winter, but it snowed almost everyday. We ended up buying scarves, hats and gloves. Granted, I still love the scarf and hat I bought, and they were not very pricy so it was ok. We had a wonderful time in spite of the weather. It looks like it will be April when they are there so hopefully they will have better weather.

Hi msjlacker,

i'm not surprised about what you experienced in Paris in March. My DH worked for a few months in Paris about 25 years ago, and i used to go over at weekends. it was a very cold spring in Paris that year.

and us just married too.

regards, ann

I live in the SF area, too. I'd say the weather in Italy will be pretty similar to SF at that time only a little colder. It is definitely not going to be hot, that's for sure.

The trip planner tab on weather underground will provide historical data for each of the locations and dates that you enter.

Unfortunately "past performance is not a guarantee of future results."
