Hi Tracy,

Yes, the Kane's will be going to Italia on June 24th, returning on July 8th - all ten of us.

I told your husband (when I was in the bank) how much you inspired my daughters-in-law with the clothes you wore on your Italy trip. The girls are about your age and are in great shape, so your "style" will suit them perfectly. (Imitation is the greatest form of flattery!)

Wow, ten people! Please let Dave know if you need any help or info as you finalize your plans. Yes, I was very comfortable on the trip in mostly skirts since it was very hot, and the length of the skirts were long enough to be allowed in all the churches. I just carried a little sweater or pashmina with me to cover my shoulders in churches and it worked out fine as well. Happy planning! I was just telling Dave I want to go back since I've been reading my old trip report.

I am planning a trip to Italy in June, and was so happy to come across your trip report. My boyfriend and I are planning to visit alot of the same places you went to, so having your input on your favourite hotels and restaurants was so helpful. I am very excited to visit Cinque Terre and stay at Villa Steno after your recommendation, and can't wait to taste some of the delicious food you raved about. Thank you for helping me with my sometimes stressful trip planning.

Hi Tra,
Great trip report!! I'm not finished reading all of it but it's definitely helping me plan our trip this coming may. Do you recommend staying in Positano over capri? we were planning on spending 3-4 nights in capri. We want to be in a spot with accessible beaches what do you think?

I have really enjoyed reading your report and looking at your pictures! I was especially taking note of the clothes you wore because they looked comfortable in the heat, yet classic. My husband and I are planning our first trip to Italy this coming summer. I don't think we'll have an Italy baby, but this *is* our "last hurrah" before that time comes! Congrats to you and your husband, and thanks for sharing!

Thanks everyone for reading the report. It's a lot of work to keep track of everything, but it helps others and everyone on this site really helped me plan our trip!

wannabe - Many people on this site recommend staying on Capri if time allows, since a lot of day-trippers make it crodwded mid-day and in the evening you supposedly get a much better feel for the place. We were very happy we stayed in Positano since it was fairly centrally located on the coast and the other AC towns were quickly accessible. I enjoyed our day trip to Capri, but for us, staying in Positano was wonderful, especially at the Villa Rosa! It's really up to you. Both have a beach and we enjoyed both! Enjoy!

You give such great detail but still tell a story. Great trip report! I cut and pasted tons of it into my "Italy planning in progress" document.

Only 3 months until baby Italia makes her debut?

Tra6: I'm reading your trip report (and really findng it helpful for my upcoming Sept trip), and would love to view your photos, as well. But, it won't let me in--says the album is no longer available. I used the link in your 8/23/05 post, so perhaps it's no longer valid?

Does anyone have information about prices/avalability in May at hotel Villa Steno in Monterosso (it is mentioned a lot here at Fodors)? I wrote them e-mail, but still have received no answer. Maybe I'm wasting my time, because they are fully booked or something...

Please, let me know, if you have any information. Thanks.

Burley - Here is another link. Hope it works! If not, I can probably email the pictures to you if you'd like. Try pasting this into your browswer window and see if it takes you there.

Inese - I would try calling if you don't hear back from Villa Steno. The people who run the hotel speak very good english. It's worth a try!

Tra6:

Thanks for the travelogue and the pix. They were great. I was able to use the link you posted originally, but the last one posted on 1/26/06 wouldn't work for me. We'll be returning to Italy for our 8th trip on Easter Sunday (4/16/06) for 24 days, this time doing primarily Tuscany and Umbria. It's been a while so we're sooooo excited. You really restimulated all the enthusiasm of our first trip. Thanks again.

Every once in a while I enjoy reading it again to 'relive' our wonderful trip. It takes me away from what I am doing and transports me to Italy. We just got back from a trip to Orlando, Florida with our one-year old. Just not the same Thanks for reading!
