Nori, on our last day in Tuscany on our way to Rome, we stopped in Chiusi to go to the etruscan museum and then we had a private cooking demonstration/lunch and wine tasting at Falesco which is near Orvieto. So either of those towns might work as a stop for lunch on your way to CdB. I don't have my map here at work, so I don't know which towns are between Rome and Buonconvento. Depending on how your timing works out, you could also have lunch in Buonconvento (we had dinner at Da Mario in Buonconvento and it was great) and then check into CdB and then spend the rest of the afternoon touring around or relaxing. Let me know if you want my trip report.
