Italy Itinerary for April

Hello

I have another Italy itinerary for the helpful souls on this board to critique. I have posted several times with general ideas or questions over the past year but this is about as definate as I have been so far. This is just the Italy leg of a longer trip so I can add days and remove days wherever I like.

April 6th (Wed) Fly London - Naples. Bus to Sorrento. Spend 4 nights here. Day trips to Pompeii, Postiano, Ravello, maybe Capri.

Accommodation - have looked at Pensione Elios and Pensione Linda. Anybody been there?

April 10th (Sun) Train to Rome 5 nights. Kerouac B&B??

April 15 (Fri) Train to Assisi and stay the night there. Heard great things and thought a night here would be a nice change of pace. Pensione La Rocca? or maybe a convent or monastary.

April 16 (Sat) Train to Florence and stay 4 nights. Tourist House Liberty?? B&B Peterson - thanks Ira for this suggestion
I thought we would day trip to Siena maybe from here.

April 20 (Wed) Train to Venice and stay 3 nights.

17 nights in total.

Should I reduce Florence? I am not sure that we are "art" people but then again we might be when we get there. Should I stay the odd one night in a smaller city for a change?

Any suggestions or thoughts are appreciated. Accommodation we are trying to stay 60E or under for a double occasionally splurging when we need to treat ourselves. However, I am keeping it all fairly flexible because as we have never travelled anywhere outside NZ except Oz I don't yet know whether we enjoy musemns, history or scenery or both etc. Also this means I am trying to compile a list of places to stay in each town so that if one is booked out I have other options.

Jeepers it is hard to make all these decisions when you have never been to a place (or a continent!)

Hi wile,

Very nice itinerary.

>Should I reduce Florence? <

I wouldn't. There is more to do than just look at "Art".

Did you see my trip report?

You might consider 2 nights in Assisi and 3 in Florence. I would not add another stop. You mention that this is part of a longer trip, so I repeat, I would not add another stop.

Assisi is a place that I have visited 3 times and I would happily go back. Visit the Eremo and if you can, bus to tiny Spello. You will enjoy Assisi, I think.

Do not add another hotel stop. either move one night from Florence to Assisi - or simply do a day trip out of florence by train or bus (Siena, San Gim??).

Hi,
I am also in NZ but lived my first 20 years in UK some am more familiar with Europe. I am going to Rome and Venice in May. Cost is a big factor for me so I am staying in Convents. I have booked at Sant'Anna in Rome,
E-mail Address(es):
[email protected]
42Euro/night single room with bath and in Venice at Casa per Ferie CABURLOTTO - ...
E-mail Address(es):
[email protected], 47Euro/night single with bath. Both these places have double rooms also. Also try this website www.santasusanna.org/comingToRome/convents/html.
Let me know how you get on.

Cheers
Sue

Hello Wilees, have you seen the suggestions for your questions.

I was wondering if you are still going to Italy April 6th. I hope you can post here again. Your trip sounds wonderful to me. Take care.
