ro,

Perhaps on the 19th in Rome we'll have overlap. We'd both previously inquired into Rex's trip fall trip (to the extent of meeting up, not going on);, there is supposed to be a good wine bar by the Spanish Steps. I'm sure I wrote it down in my notes at home. I'll check it out at get back.

Sorry it took me awhile to get back but here is that wine bar by the Spanish Steps that I mentioned:

Enoteca Fratelli Roffi Isabelli
Via Della Croce 76B
Open Resaurant Daily 12:30-3:30pm &7:30-11pm; bar daily 11:30-1am

I found this as a recommended wine bar in the Frommers 2001 Rome book, here are some excerpts from Frommer's write-up:"One of the best places to tast the wines of Italy...set behind a discreet facade in a chic shoppig district, this is the city's best repository for Italian wines, brandies and grappa. You can opt for a postage-stamp-sized table in the back or stay at the bar..".

Another wine bar noted, near Campo de' Fiori, Il Goccetto specializes in French & Italian wines by the glass with prices that range from 5,000 lire to 18,000 lire. Platters of food are available (i.e., italian cheeses and meats, salami & pates & some salads).

Just ideas for the wine lovers out there that may want to may this happen in Italy at a Wine bar. If it happens in Rome this September between the 15th - 19th, please count me & the hubby in. (let's not count my typo's please).

3:30 might be a little early for us as well. But I just invited myself, so don't base your plans around us. It will be nice to talk to some fellow Americans as the languague will be difficult for me.
We get into Rome that day at 12:00 and then plan on drooping off our things at the hotel and going to the Colluseum..after that in seach of the purple and pink hat!

Hello! Ok-after all the postings, it sounds like everyone is meeting on Sept 19th at enotica fratelli raffi isabelli. Anyone still thinking about meeting in Rome on Sept 8th? I'll be in Rome Sept 7th - 12th and would love to put a face to the postings! b
