Based on the email I get, and the comments on this forum, clearly half of the civilized western world will be in Tuscany in Sep. Would you believe 3 couples just on my block are going. At that rate I am afraid that Tuscany may sink into the Med. Too many books and too much disposable income---the Tuscans must be loving this !

Nutella,

Looks like we - - the "fall Fodorites' trip to Italy" - - might be able to meet up with you (just barely) during the first few days of our stay.

Sep 20 - - arrive Milan Linate, train to Florence
Sep 20 and 21 staying in florence
Sep 22 - - leaving Florence (car), headed to Lake Garda, possibly with a morning detour via Siena (yes, I know, not really "on the way")

For anyone (especially you impulse decision-makers!) - - we would still welcome additional participants - - see www.rexbickers.italy.com for more info.

Best wishes,

Rex

I won't be there--and THAT'S the problem! Is the whole world (with the exception of me) going to Italy this year? Boy, do *I* feel left out! That's OK. Next year we return to Italy. This year we have Spain--so it can't be all bad, can it? But I'll be thinking of you enjoying glasses of wine together in a sidewalk cafe! Have a ball.

We will be in Italy for a week mid September- Any idea what the weather will be like, ie. more summer or more autumn like?

asclefko, we're staying in Monterosso at Pasquale's in the Cinque Terre region, not too far from Portofino I believe. The family also runs the Villa Steno. You might want to check out their website, at pasini.com to see if you're interested and they have any availability.
