ITALY for backpackers, and not only

If you want tips and advices for planning a trip to Italy, feel free to e-mail me. I am an Italian student and love to travel, meet people and exchange travel tips with all around the world friends.
I also have a pretty good experience on backpacking Europe.

Flavio,

Hi. I'm planning a trip to Italy for the first 2 weeks of July (July 3 - 18). Right now, I'm hoping to see Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome and (if time) the Amalfi Coast. I was planning to backpack, so that I wouldn't be stuck to any particular schedule (it's my first time in Italy), but now am getting a little worried about lodging. I'd really appreciate any suggestions on where to stay, what to do, anything. Money is a bit of a concern. I don't want to spend more than $2000, not including airfare. Thanks in advance!

Ciao Flavio,
My husband and I will not backpack; but we will not visit the major cities either. This is our third trip to Italy. We arrive in Roma, stay one night, then travel east to Gran Sasso, Teramo and Giulianova. Travel sud to Termoli as we would like to visit Isle di Tremiti. Do you have any experience or information on the ferry, hotels, etc. for the Isle? We have toured the Promotorio del Gargano last visit. Now we go further sud to Alberobello to see and stay in or near the Trulli homes. Then we go to San Lorenzo Maggiore de Benevento to spend several days con la famiglia. We hope to go to la festa de Sangennaro in Napoli on 19 settembre.
Perhaps you could share any information you have on this area; especially Tremiti. We know that many hotels do take credit cards, but do all? Will our Mastercard be sufficient? Are there ATM's available? Or, just molto lire!
Mi scusi per troppo domando. We would appreciate anything you could help us with for this trip. Molto grazie, Donna ed Ernesto.
