Italy for 2

My husband and I are planning on travling to Italy, we love the country but would also like to see the culture, history and cities.

My idea is:
Venice
Rome
Cinque Terre

For about 2 weeks totals. ANY ideas or suggestions??

Well, if you're a "culture and history" couple, you'll probably want to include Florence.

JMHO, but I think CT is a bit overrated and overcrowded in-season. You could spend a couple of days there, and see the coastline and experience the hiking trails, but I wouldn't make it the focus of my trip, if culture, history and cities are what interest you.

what time of year, nic? the CT might not be too much fun in February.

also, unless you are very keen and educated about art, the 3 city combo of Venice, Florence and Rome can be a bit overwhelming..."if it's Tuesday it must be the uffizi"

so I like the idea of the CT, but you could also do a nice trip combining Venice, a stay in the Tuscan countryside, and Florence, or Rome, Umbria and Florence.

have fun planning!

For a long read, a trip report my hubby did some time back, that was Rome, Tuscany & Cinque Terre

I did not do a trip report like I should have when we traveled to Venice, the Dolomites & Bellagio, but there is a little info on our home page.

Happy travels!!

Thank you so much! I am hoping to go in the Spring, April/May, if that makes a difference. I've read that this time is less busy?

If you fly into Venice and out of Rome you could also go to Sorrento; which if south of Rome, then you could take the bus and see the Almafi Coast one day or take a boat to Capri. I loved Sorrento.

That sounds like a great idea. Would you travel by train?
