Better
I checked into that a couple of months ago. It is either Cingular or Verizon - I cant remember which. Look at their homepages. As I remember, it works out to about $20/day and good all over Italy. Again - I didnt do it because it just didnt work out for us and we didnt need it.

I saw a thread on this issue a few weeks ago, and you could probably find it by doing a search. Bottom line, you can BUY a phone in Italy with a reasonable amount of phone time for around $100, so it doesnt' make sense to rent one [especially if they really cost $20 a day to rent]. According to one of the posters, you can even sell the phone on E Bay when you return, so that the total cost isn't "sunk".
This is what I'm planning to do.

FYI for anyone looking into cells4rent while in Italy( especially if trip ends in Florence). Cells4rents was great! Extremely reasonable, invaluable during trip as we each had a cell phone and no hidden charges etc. I recommend them very HIGHLY.

Once upon a time not so long long ago, mobile phones were expensive and so renting a mobile phone became an option albekit an expensive one for those business people who just had to stay in touch.

In the 21st century, that is no longer the case. Buying a mobile phone makes much more sense and without going into everything that is found in all the threads, most of the time buying a phone and a prepaid plan on arrival in Italy is a much saner approach to this.

I thought that was true until I was there and compared the prices. It was so cheap two rent 2 cells that you could not even come close if you purchased it. I'm sure depending on what city your trip begins and ends makes a difference also. Cells4rent was in Florence and it could not have been less expensive or easier to use.
