Italy - Capri Hotel Needed
Going to capri end of august, need suggestion on a good hotel. Wanted to stay at the Grand Hotel Quisianna but lately the reviews have not been so great. Would love a hotel in the middle of everything and with a pool scene. Any ideas? Thanks

Not sure of your budget, but have a look at www.jkcapri.com It's a little bit gorgeous and a little bit glamorous (has a sister property in Florence) but is not in Capri Town, rather it's near the Marina Grande (hence the waterside-beach access location). Technically "in the middle of everything", just not up the hill.

Would Love JK capri but its sold out and has been sold out for months already!!!
Anyone have anything good to Say about Capri Palace? OR anything else? Also looking for information about beach clubs. Where there is some action going on and some partying!!

August will do that to you - a lot of places will already be booked out. Haven't stayed at Capri Palace but it is gorgeous and if you like JK then you'll like the Palace too. Hotel San Michele, whilst not on the beach, is also gorgeous and has amazing views from almost every point in the hotel, plus a huge pool.
As far as beach clubs, it's all sun lounges on the pebbles as the beaches aren't sandy but rather pebbly (of all different sizes - Marina Piccolo has a small pebble beach, which is small in size as well as pebble, with the Bagni Internazionale club and a handful of shops and eating establishments. There is a beach club called Fontelina at the shore facing the Faraglioni, which has rocky outposts dotted with umbrellas and lounges and ladders into the sea, but if it's windy or rough it can be a bit dangerous getting in a out. Or another one just along the coast a little caled Da Luigi ai Faraligoni, which is a little more accessible, but doesn't have the all day exposure that Fontelina has (esp sunset).
Closer to the Marina Piccolo is La Canzone del Mare which has a sun deck and pool, and beach chairs on the rock ledges overhanging the sea. It's one of the more famous and older clubs on the island. Torre Saracena has a beach and is just next to Marina Piccolo. Bagni di Tiberio is just on the right of the Marina Grande if you face the Funicular, and is popular due to ease of access. Not a "funky vibe" as such, but is right on the water and looks back to Naples.
Some clubs are accessible by boat from Marina Piccolo, (the first two, although you can walk from Capri down a pathway to da Luigi, but it takes 20mins at least) whilst Torre Saracena and Alla Canzone can be reached by taxi or bus from Capri Town to Marina Piccolo, then a short walk along the pathway. You can also walk down from Capri Town on via Krupp (just follow signs from via Vittorio Emanuele), which is a spectacular path with excellent views that links Capri to the Marina Piccolo through Caesar Augustus Gardens (suggest walking down then taxi back at end of day).
You won't get the day partying that you do at say Paradise Beach on Santorini or on Ibiza (or anywhere in Florida), but at night there are options depending on what you're looking for. There are wine bars, piano bars with traditional music (O Guarrancino is the best known for Neopolitan music), and clubs. Try Anema e Core for something a little different (all about the dancing, but to traditional Neopolitan tunes and even salsa with the live band), Number Two in Capri Town is more clubbing/dance music and Discoteca Zeus in Anacapri is popular with the Caprese. The last two open around 9pm, but it's not worth getting there much before midnight, so you might want to have dinner and drinks late before venturing out...or a disco nap! And dress glam - Number Two isn't for the faint hearted in the sartorial stakes.
Capri isn't a massive hotspot for discos (nightclubs) as such, again not like going to Ibiza, but there's a lot of socialising to be had in the Piazetta (main square) of Capri at sunset and into the evening, so even an outdoor spot at a cafe/bar there (Al Piccolo is THE spot for many), or nearby, will give you a good atmosphere, just not all pumping dance music and cocktails.

I have stayed at the Quisianna and didn't care for it and suggest you look elsewhere. It's a bit sterile for my tastes, although I thought the location was great if you want to be in Capri. That's too bad you can't get into JK Capri, I stayed there last year and absolutely LOVED IT! You have to go there sometime.
I have stayed at the Capri Palace many times with my husband and thought it was lovely although we always splurge and stay in one of their nicer "suites" which makes a big difference. I have to admit, our first trip there we were in a "standard" room and we weren't so impressed. The mattress was horrible and the room was tiny for the money (compared to the Quisianna rooms) but the grounds, pool, spa and restaurant are wonderful and it's nice to be away from the crowds at night if you're looking for a more romantic setting. Just be prepared for that 20 minute bus/taxi ride up and down the steep hill every time you want to go into Capri. It's a shocker the first time you do it! Enjoy.
