Italy: 2 Plus weeks of good eating-Ideas?
Spending 16 days in Italy, and I am looking for restaurant reccomendations as well as unusual things to do. Trip starts April 27.
First stop is Udine in the Friuli Venetzia area, then on to Verona, Venice, Florence and then Rome. About 3 nights in each city. Food is important, but IMO doesn't have to be pricy to be memorable. Sites? Well, none of the regular museums or churches on this trip are on my hit list-looking for other options. Like the Iris Garden in Florence that is only open for 19 days a year.
I have made only one reservation, at Il Ridotto in Venice, and am open to new ideas.

Hello, Kris, here is a favorite restaurant of mine in Verona if you want to take a look and see if it would be what you might enjoy.

I know it's in every guide book, but that's because it really is good--Corte Sconda in Venice, that is. We never go without stopping there. It's wonderful. Lunch in the courtyard under the vines is priceless--though it will cost a bit.

KrisMom,
JulieVikmanis meant to type Corte Sconta.
For a two-week trip you'd do week to invest in some food-specific guidebooks if food is really important to you. Fred Plotkin's Italy for the Gourmet Traveler is about to be reissued, but even the unrevised version is worth getting for its food tips. It is about authentic Italian food, not Michelin-starred food. Just be aware that some places mentioned may not be open. For Rome, David Downie's newly released Food Wine Rome is budget friendly and specifically targeted at finding non-tourist food in the city.
For Venice, you might enjoy reading this:

This may have some tips for Florence
