not to be a stick in the mud but if the pass shows dates of useage it may be activated.
Here's how pass activation works - the pass has an issue date on it - say a RailEurope stamp and then you have to activate it within six months of issue. There will be no dates of useage on it but this is put in - the two month period - when it's activated - that's what activation is all about. If there are two Rail Europe stamps on it - one for issuer and one for validation it's validated. You may have got the paperwork that goes with passes in general that says this?
But i realize you must have some other comp pass that i am not familiar with. sorry just trying to help.
I'm out - cheers.

I used a 3-country Flexipass last month.
You can buy reservations without a pass. Just make sure it's understood that you just want the reservation, not the ticket too. Activating your pass must be done at the train station. Go to a ticket window and tell them you need to have your pass activated. They will stamp it with the current date. From that date you have 30 days until it expires. For each ride you write the date in one of the boxes on the pass.
It's really very simple. You can make the reservations at any time, just be sure your pass is activated/validated when you board the train.
