I cancelled my reservation at the Ottoman because of poor customer service. They will not answer a simple question and if that's how they work before you get there I don't hold out much hope for them being any better after I get there.
The Empress Zoe is outstanding.

Had friends who had booked at the Empress Zoe for August 2nd but cancelled as they re-read the web pages and found out that there is NO SMOKING. Many of the rooms have patios and balconies but apparently (?) from what I understood, there is no smoking even on your own private balcony. Seems very strange for Europe but this is what they said. Double check incase I misunderstood if you're smokers.

I've read good things about Empress Zoe but when I looked on their web page I realized they don't have elevators. Caution if you have lots of luggage or problems going up and down stairs...make sure you get something on the ground floor.

The Alzer Hotel across from the blue mosque on the corner is small, intimate, like being with a family. small rooms, but very nice, friendly, breakfast on top of the hotel is like a bed and breakfast overlooking the blue mosque. totally recommend it.

I'd recommend checking out YESIL EV. It's in a great location in Sultanahmet, very close to all the major attractions. We didn't stay there during a recent visit ( were at SEVEN HILLS around the corner), but had a wonderful dinner in their beautiful garden and thought the hotel ambience was lovely.
