ISO our perfect Cinque Terre villa
I have been searching for the perfect Cinque Terre villa for a while but haven't quite found "the one". I wonder if any savvy Fodorites might have some suggestions I haven't considered. I have checked SlowTrav, TripAdvisor, Parker Villas, Sterling Villas, Holiday Homes, rentsvillas.com, VRBO and several other listings. What I am hoping for here is a recommendation based on personal experience.
Ours is a group of eight who plan to do a lot of walking and not much riding.
When: Mid May 2010
Bedrooms: Four minimum (one with twin beds, others with king or queen beds)
Bathrooms: Two or more
Full Kitchen
View: Sea view
Special: A nice outdoor space, terrace or garden
Noise: If possible we would like a relatively quiet place not particularly near train tracks or a busy road.
Location: We would like to be able to walk to restaurants and shops. All of us are strong walkers.
We may end up renting a car or two; but, would prefer to have the option not to rent a car. We know there are lots of good places in other parts of Italy; but, for this trip we plan to stay in the CT region. It does not have to be in one of the "towns" but we would like to be relatively close by. We are open to Santa Margherita ; but, prefer not to be too close to La Spezia.
We welcome all suggestions which may help us plan our trip. Zeppole, you are particularly encouraged. I have read many of your posts and know you live in the region.
Thank you!

I have been looking online in this area off and on for a couple of years and concluded that there are far fewer rentals in the high end than in Tuscany, for example. You might expand your search into northern Tuscany for more results:

Thank you very much. I will follow up on your suggestions. You have been a great help.
ekscrunchy, you are so right about the choices being greater in northern Tuscany. I found some great properties but they were just too distant from the Cinque Terre. Casa Bona Mare says it only sleeps six but with four bedrooms I don't see why it wouldn't work for us. I'll definitely check into it!
