I stayed in Porto and found it to be just fine. The island is small, so it really doesn't matter much where you stay. In our case, we ferried over with a car, so it was easy to get around the whole island. If you can, you should do the same. Good luck.

I agree, you will be happy whatever part of the island you choose. However, I am biased toward Sant'Angelo, as it is unique and extra special. Incredibly picturesque, no roads with cars running through it, built up along a marina and overlooking the sea.

I know Ischia very well. We have family we visit every year. Rent a car and drive to Sant Angelo. There is a wonderful hotel called the Celestino. It's a small hotel with all the rooms facing the sea and they all have balconies. The rooms are spotless, the food is delicious. The owners name is Carla. You can reserve a room with a credit card, but you must pay in cash. No big deal becase there is an ATM around the corner. Ischia Porto is where the ferries come in and is very busy. It's nice to visit areas around there, but if you want to stay in a beautiful surrounding, stay in Sant Angelo. Carla speaks English. Fewer people speak English on Ischia because they don't have a lot of Americans visiting. Sant Angelo has a beach and you can take the water taxi to Maronti Beach. Forio is nice to stay in, also. Driving isn't bad so don't worry about that. The rental company will meet you at the port.

Thanks Nutella and Ann
You have helped me to decide. We Choose Sant'Angelo to stay, Maybe hotel Celestino or Miramare.
I'm a Brazilian and I have been studying Italian for 3 years, and have already been in Italy many times , but it will be my first time at Ischia
Arrivederci Bete
