Is this to Good To Be True?
OK... so I'm getting cold feet, seems to good to be true. Reserved Hotel Caravaggio in Rome, 3*, great location, rooms looks great on website, bath en suite, courteous staff (I called) unbelievable price $62.00
which includes breakfast. Well I'm not expecting the Ritz but I do need some things ie Comfortable bed, clean rooms. Anyone ever stayed there or heard good or bad? check it out [email protected] and let me know if I should or shouldn't. Oh yea they faxed conformation with price.

Dear Donna,

I checked out the website and the IFH map, not the one supplied by the hotel, and probably the reason the price is so low is because the hotel is in the railway station area. It's not the most preferred tourist location (e.g., near Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori), but many Fodorites have had good hotel experiences in this area.

From their 'rack rates' (about $80 for a single as I recall) I'd infer the price you have may be per person. If not, it suggests that they're >really< having trouble attracting business and you should worry about why that is so.

The location is not particularly advantageous. I'm not sure who told you it's a 'great location', but it's not.

It's not especially near the train station, though in the general area, but a bit off from being in a convenient location either for most sights, restaurants or direct transport.

You'll find several recommendations for Rome hotels beginning at www.twenj.com/romehotel.htm

Ed
