My husband and I are planning on flying into London and out of Paris in February 2007, spending about 5 nights in each city. We are flying from Dallas, TX. I found a flight for just under 600 per person, non-stop on American (for frequent flyer miles). Should I go ahead and book it or wait a bit and hope it gets lower and not vice versa. Thanks for your input.

I would first compare to other airlines prices to make sure you're getting a good deal. However, I think it sounds like a good price for an open-jaw ticket. Non-stop is usually also more expensive.

At the times you want and on the dates you want? I might compare using www.itasoftware.com but it sounds like a good deal to me already!

My first impression is that sounds like a really good price, especially for non-stop open jaw. I would compare the rate with others (try www.kayak.com - it searches multiple airline and travel websites).

From my experience, prices go up as you approach the date of travel, so my gut feeling would be to book right away.

I am having the same problem. I found an available frequent flyer seat on Delta from Pensacola, Fl to LGW leaving on 2/7/07 and returning on the 12th.

I am hoping to surprise my sister with a ticket to go with me. She will be flying out of Roanoke, VA. I haven't been able to find anything under $600 (including taxes). That seemed a little high to me considering it's February.

I'm just going to keep checking fares. I'm hoping for a sale later in the summer, or maybe fall.

For what it's worth,I usually book open-jaw tickets,and they've never been more costly that a simple round-trip.

Not terrible, but does seem a bit high to me. Does that include taxes/fees?

To give you an example - In march I flew AA from SFO through DFW to CDG for $571 including taxes (London would have been cheaper) From DFW it would have been about $100 less.

I know fares are up for this Fall over last year so next Feb will also probably be higher. But often there are fare sales in the autumn for winter/spring travel.

i think you could wait a bit, though you'd have to watch carefully for the right price - which could be closer to $500. feb. is definitely not peak season. was this a sudden big drop in price?

i've only paid under $500 once (PHL-CDG), but close to or over $600 twice.

Oil just hit $75 a barrel, the highest ever. The prediction is that it will hit $100 or more soon.

Last year fares will have nothing to do with what this year fares or what next years fares will be like.

$600 will be the best you can do (minus few, VERY few $ or possibly a great deal more). Are you willing to take that chance?

I would listen to the Frequent Flyer if i were you.

OK..everyone is trying to help you BUT please remember that airfares are based on market competition so comparing the cost of flying from DIFFERENT cities to the same destination and in DIFFERENT months is a bit misleading IMO.

Seriously, would you really wait if everyone here said it was "too high?"

Do you honestly think any of us KNOW that these prices will go up or down, much less when?

I'd jump on that fare. About 4 years ago, I started looking in June for a flight to Paris the next March...everything was in the $1000 range. In late July I happened on a fare in the $600 range and grabbed it. I checked periodically and it never went lower.

I'm looking for SFO/Paris the first of November. It looks like with all the added on costs I'm going to be at about 900.00. Part of my "problem" is, I want direct, period! However, all the other fares I've seen at this point are over 800.00 so for a one or two hundred dollar difference, I'm STILL going direct. I have signed up for e-mails for fare sales so we'll see what happens but I am inclined to book pretty soon anyway. I don't have flexibility in my days and some of the flights already have quite a few seats sold. So, I'm thinking that your price looks pretty darn good, especially with fuel costs escalating.

I'd grab that fare also. I agree with AAFF & once you book it, you can stop worrying.

I would book this immediately! Especially considering the non-stop flights.

In my experience, after watching fares for a while, when you see a favorable one, you will not see it again...and fares are always more likely to go up than down nowadays...

If it's the exact dates/flights you want, book it now. Not a bad price at all.
