Is there a Paris version of the Hoxton Hotel in London?

Hi! Is there a Paris version of the Hoxton Hotel in London? I received recommendations from very nice Fodorites on the Hoxton Hotel for my trip to London last year. We enjoyed our stay there tremendously! Is there a hotel like that in Paris? We are looking for an affordable, hip hotel in Paris, with a fun hotel bar. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

At the moment it would have to be Mama Shelter

http://www.mamashelter.com/

Definitely hip, fun bar and friendly crowd. It's not central but only 10 minutes on the metro from the major sights.

Hi Mama Shelter looks like a fun place! Definitely gonna check it out! Just curious, what district or area is the nightlife in Paris?

depends on your demographics and what you want to do, I suppose. I'd say the 10th, 11th, 19-20th arr., Marais and parts of Latin Qtr and St Germain, and Montparnasse and even parts of the 13th and 14th. It really depends what you mean by nightlife. Do you mean some dance club or bar or just a cafe where people hang out at night, do you mean theaters and jazz clubs or just cinema? etc

I second the suggestion of Oberkampf, if you're looking for a fairly safe bet, but as Christina says, it really depends on what you're after.

Hi summa, I can't really recommend any hotels because I rented an apartment when I stayed in that area. But here's what Time Out's got for Oberkampf/Bastille (with a range of prices):

hi farrer, i checked out Mama Shelter, unfortunately it is beyond our budget. Can you recommend something perhaps in the 100-130 euros range?

Hello Summa - haven't any idea what is hip in Paris (or anywhere else for that matter), but for what it is worth my accumulated amateur researches from a great distance tell me that for the price range you mention you'll probably need to abandon your quest for a 'hip hotel with funky bar' and settle for accommodation with 'pleasant vibes at a reasonable price', perhaps at a hotel like the Langlois, France Albion, or Avor Saint Georges in the 9th, or New Orient in the 8th, and plan on getting out and about (and over to the 11th) for the bars and hip stuff.
