IS THERE A FERRY FROM CYPRUS TO LEBANON????
I'm visiting Cyprus this summer and would love to see Beirut for a few days. What's the best way to get there?? Has anyone ever done a trip from Cyprus to Lebanon?
I thought a ferry might be a nice way to travel, rather then flying.
I appreciate any infos and/or links on the www.
Thanks very much.

Check out louiscruises.com they have a ferry that leaves Limassol on Friday night at 10 pm arrives into Beirut the next morning at 7 am. We are also visiting Beirut from Cyprus this summer and I am looking to see if there is a faster service by Catamaran than a ferry. There used to be one years ago.

Louis Cruises advertise two-night cruises from Limassol to Beirut. It's a cruise rather than a ferry and I'm not sure if you can book a one-way ticket. The fares are reasonable, considering meals are included.

I don't remember the name of the ferry company. We boarded in Istsanbul (spelling?), stopped in Cyprus then on to Haifa. It was several years ago. The ferry had sleeping cabins, restuarant, and a swimming pool.

Apparently there is no longer a ferry service from Greece either. The two companies that once offered service- Salamis and Posiedon lines- haven't updated their websites since 2001. I suspect it has more to do with the shifting political situation and economy of Cyrpus. Perhaps as cypriot entry into the EU is finalized there will be some sort of Eurorail service; like that between Greece and Italy.
